INGREDIENTS
Donuts:
• 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
• 1/4 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
• 3/4 cup whole milk, warmed
• 1/4 cup granulated sugar
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 2 large eggs
• 3 tbsp cannabutter
• 2 tbsp regular unsalted butter (optional, for balance)
• Vegetable oil, for frying
Glaze:
• 2 cups powdered sugar
• 1/4 cup whole milk
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
INSTRUCTIONS
In a small bowl, mix the warm water and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, salt, eggs, and cannabutter and regular butter. Stir in the yeast mixture before gradually adding the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness on a floured surface.
Use a donut cutter (or a round cutter and a smaller cutter for the center) to cut out donuts.
Place the donuts and donut holes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 30–45 minutes.
Heat 2–3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the donuts in batches, cooking for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a wire rack lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
In a medium bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Dip each warm donut into the glaze, letting the excess drip off, and place back on the wire rack to set.
Once the glaze is set, the donuts are ready to enjoy. Serve fresh and consume responsibly!
TIPS
• Make sure your oil temperature is consistent (around 350°F/175°C) to ensure even frying and prevent greasy donuts
• Be patient with your dough's resting time; letting it rise properly will give you the fluffiest donuts
• Get creative with toppings like sprinkles, crushed nuts, or a drizzle of chocolate for added flavor and texture
